Very biased and lacking both in objectivity and in a good faith analysis of the facts  
A much better purchase on this important subject is the small (64 pages) inexpensive book published by Amnesty International entitled "The Case of Mumia Abu-Jamal: A Life in the Balance".

For example John Hayden puts a quotation on the front cover which according to Amnesty International is almost certainly a false quote that never even occurred. The quotation on the front cover as explained in the Amnesty International book is unlikely illogical and improbable. The allegation that Mumia made the statement came from an intimidated cowed witness whose testimony changed drastically after being pressured by police.

It is a far better investment of time and money to read the fair objective booklet published by Amnesty International on this subject. : 2010-09-16 00:07:39

A no nonsense approach to de-constructing Abu-Jamals myths.  
John Hayden offers a well written and extensive account of the story of Mumia Abu-Jamal.

The book often sounds sarcastic but shows clearly that there is only one believable side to this story (unless a reader thinks the completely fact challenged report by Amnesty International is somehow credible; it is not). John Hayden describes the evidence and the trial proceedings in details and makes understandable why the jury found Abu-Jamal guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. After reading the book any fair and open-minded reader will agree with that verdict. Hayden leaves no room for doubts. His approach illustrates the contrast between the actual facts of the case and many claims by the pro-Mumia crowd which also explains why he sometimes used derisive remarks.

The only negative point is the quotation on the front cover which may be true or not. However the content of the book shows clearly that Abu-Jamal is guilty no matter whether he made that statement or not. : 2010-09-16 00:07:39
